In this role you will:
be responsible for the creation of a safe, emotionally responsive, age appropriate environment that fosters the physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth of the children. S/he models and encourages appropriate care and attachment behaviors for parents.
Essential Functions:
- Provide for the physical care needs of the infants and toddlers in the program; feeding, diapering, cleaning as needed.
- Provide a genuine, warm social relationship for the baby demonstrating a nurturing attitude, capacity for affection and appreciation for emotional signals and needs.
- Provide anticipatory support facilitating the child’s developmental milestones.
- Be able to provide parents with daily reports about the babies’ daily routine and activities including food consumption, sleep routine, and emotional state.
- Assist Nursery Manager in the implementation of a Mother-Baby relationship curriculum
- Conduct home visits and parent conferences as needed to discuss the child's individual development and progress.
- Maintain a safe and healthy nursery environment. In collaboration with the Nursery manager, assure that nursery equipment, furniture, materials, and supplies are properly maintained and stored;
- Be aware of and assist in the integration and implementation of the parent’s relationship-based goals from their treatment plan.
- Perform other duties, as may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED with Infant Toddler CDA within year of employment
- 2 years’ experience working with young children preferred.
- Bilingual preferred in one or more of the following: Spanish, Mandarin and others may be required depending on client needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently.
- Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task
- First Aid and Infant CPR Certification
Qualifications Preferred:
- Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or Related Field
- Infant Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA)
- Food Preparation/Handling Certification
Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk, sit for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or control; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work environment:
- Work is performed in a nursery/classroom environment (indoor and outdoor) with normal heating and cooling.
