JOB TITLE: Mechanical Engineer

REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: “Essential functions” are primarily job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop 2D and 3D designs using AutoCAD.

Coordinate with other Engineering team members to design, layout, or detail components and systems to provide solutions to design and/or manufacturing challenges.

Review and analyze project specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data.

Provide technical support for the Sales, Purchasing, and Production teams as needed.

Engage with Production team members to improve designs or manufacturing processes.

Modify and revise existing designs to improve operating deficiencies or reduce production times.

Create and maintain bills of materials for existing designs using appropriate software (AutoCAD, Inventor, Infor Visual).

Communicate with customers and vendors to ensure project specifications are met.

Other duties as assigned.

Environment: 90% office, 10% production
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Working knowledge of 2D and 3D modeling software (AutoCAD and Inventor experience preferred).

Experience in a manufacturing environment; trailer industry experience a plus.

Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and maintain timelines.

Must be self-motivated.

Proven ability to work well with others as a team.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

4-year degree in an Engineering or Engineering Technology major preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit/stand for most of his/her job duties. There is the need to frequently walk. There will be a moderate amount of standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting, and reaching for some of his/her job duties.
Visual requirements include reading off a computer screen as well as printed materials. A high degree of dexterity is required due to use of a telephone console.
Verbal and auditory requirements include the ability to communicate clearly over the telephone as well as in person.
There is a moderate level of grasping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling of objects.
