- Screening the patient for testing and/or procedures and communicating with the provider to ensure these are done as efficiently as possible. The scribe is responsible for documenting all information obtained from the patient, services/testing done, and results of any services/testing in the Electronic Medical Record(EMR).
- Preparing patients for examination by taking the chief complaint, taking vital signs and taking histories
- Assisting physicians/providers during physical examinations and procedures including during suturing, wound care, oxygen administration, medication/vaccine administration and whenever else the provider requests assistance.
- Maintaining clean, well-stocked exam rooms, restrooms and office environment.
- Following up with patients by phone for courtesy calls, lab results, test results and continuation of care.
- Taking inventory of medical supplies and lab supplies and requesting ordering of supplies.
- Serving as a liaison between the healthcare provider and patients/laboratories/pharmacies/other healthcare providers in order to ensure convenience and excellence of care.
- Ensuring that all information dictated byprovider is accurately typed into the EMR.
- Any other duties as deemed necessary by the doctors and/or office management to ensure high quality patient care in a clean, safe office environment.
