Position Summary:
A Child’s Place Early Learning Center is seeking a full-time, on-site, Young Preschool Teacher who will be responsible for the supervision and care of our young children ages 3-3.5 years. This is a highly collaborative role working closely with current preschool teachers. Our preschool team works to promote the social, emotional, academic, and physical growth of our students in the Preschool program. Our classroom teachers and assistants are also responsible for building positive, professional relationships with our parents and families to support open and continuous communication. The ideal Lead Teacher would be comfortable working independently and taking direction from our Center Director and Assistant Director, while providing direction to assistants and aides that may come to assist in the classroom from time to time. This person should be able to manage a group of up to 10 preschoolers independently, providing whole and small group instructions, centers, classroom management and behavior management. The ideal candidate would also be comfortable conforming to an established schedule and routine, and participating in the facilitation of the day to day tasks. Ideally this individual would also have experience planning and implementing age appropriate activities based on a prepared curriculum as well as designing and utilizing age appropriate classroom management.
Essentials Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise group of preschoolers in a variety of settings (e.g. whole/small group instruction, centers, snack time, lunch time, assist with using the bathroom, and naptime, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment
- Ensure the safety of preschoolers through constant supervision, effective management of space, proper maintenance of equipment, and regular practice of fire drills and other emergency procedures
- Create an open, friendly, and cooperative atmosphere in which children and families feel comfortable and secure
- Design an environment that responds to the children’s individual developmental levels and interests
- Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development such as games, arts and crafts, music, sing-a-longs, and storytelling
- Provide a variety of language stimulation activities
- Ensure that parents receive adequate information about their child’s experiences at the center through daily contacts, reports, and photograph
- Assist with transitioning onto the next classroom
- Complete appropriate paperwork in a neat and organized manner (i.e. daily reports, incident reports, attendance sheets, medication logs, etc)
- Attend monthly staff meetings and all required trainings for the purpose of receiving and conveying information related to program
- Clean and maintain the classroom/playground environment
- Interact with and engage the children in a positive manner
- Provide constant, supportive and professional communication with coworkers, parents, and children
- Have the ability to conform to an established and consistent work schedule
- Follow all DHS and Keystone Stars requirements
- Adhere to all policies found in the ACP Employee Handbook
- Provide First Aid/CPR in the event of an Emergency, if certified
- All other tasks as needed
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED *Required
- Associate's or Higher in Early Childhood Development -or- related field *Preferred
- 2 years (2,500 hours) of verifiable experience working with children *Required - preference given to experience with preschoolers
- Ability to successfully pass and maintain all background/clearance checks.
- Maintain an employee file in accordance with DHS and ACP regulations.
- Lift up to 40 lbs.
- Repetitive bending, stretching, and stooping.
- Climb up and down stairs.
- Have the mobility required to ensure the safety of the children.
- Work with children on the floor.
- Work outdoors in any variety of weather.
- Have visual and hearing capabilities that allow consistent supervision of children with DHS licensing safety requirements.
- Perform light duty cleaning.
- Light typing and word processing
Salary:
Starting rate is contingent upon qualifications and experience provided.
