The Security Installation Technician works directly with internal management, customer representatives and third party vendors to successfully deploy market leading security and life safety technologies for the clients of Nextec Integrated Systems. This critical role requires proficiency in the installation and repair of security, data and low voltage infrastructure as well as exceptional customer service capabilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Installation of access control, CCTV, nurse call, public address and other low voltage networks
- Installation of conduit, drilling, coring, and trenching
- Installation & termination of low voltage cabling
- Mounting of panels, field devices, computers, servers and power supplies
- System programming, set-up, and testing
- Communication with customers, vendors and internal management team during the installation process regarding job status, schedule changes, delays, systems testing, etc...
- Attendance of installation review and project planning meetings as required
- Complete assigned installations on-time and within established budget
- Maintain and submit accurate paperwork and documentation as required
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications include:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and non-verbally
- Ability to work flexible shifts, nights and weekends as required
- Ability to travel for business purposes with advanced notice
- Ability to professionally interface with a diverse group of co-workers and customers
- Ability to complete assigned tasks in a safe manner
- Ability to efficiently manage time and scheduled workload with minimal supervision
- Ability to read blueprints, architectural, mechanical and electrical documents
- Ability to use hand and power tools
- Ability to use test equipment such as multi-meter and tone generator
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
- General understanding of security, low-voltage and data network infrastructure
- General understanding of common construction practices
Working conditions
- Candidates for this position may be required to work at a vast array of interior and exterior customer sites that could pose various safety hazards.
- Any required personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided by Nextec Integrated Systems prior to work commencing.
- All candidates are required to complete an OSHA 10- Hour training course within their first 30 days of employment which will be paid for by Nextec Integrated Systems.
Physical requirements
- Ability to hear horn and/or warning devices at a distance of 30 yards.
- Ability to repeatedly lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring frequent bending, stooping, kneeling and standing.
- Ability to walk significant distances.
- Ability (uncorrected or corrected) to visually observe and detect signs of dangerous obstacles at a distance of 30 yards and to verify written information at a close range.
- Ability to work from ladders, hydraulic lifts and scaffolds at heights above 30 feet.
- Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces.
- Ability to work in extreme temperature ranges and inclement weather conditions.
