Overview:
This position is responsible for providing design support to engineers for Water/Wastewater pipeline and facility projects.
Responsibilities:
- With occasional assistance from project engineers and managers, produce drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, and graphic representations of engineering designs using computer-aided drafting software

Conduct field investigations as needed

Prepare material quantity take-off and estimates using computer-generated quantity take-off estimates, including 3-dimensional quantities like excavation and grading.

Develop construction documents showing topographical contours, elevations, profiles, and cross-sections as well as develop draft design engineering drawings

Develop construction documents showing mechanical plan and cross-sectional views, inside-the-fence piping, process units, in-plant hydraulic profiles and P&IDs

Understand and use established company standards for drafting including layer names, line and character styles, drawings, and file names for sheet layout

Handle AutoCAD transfers

Analyze sketches, notes, and other input material to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete drawings with minimal supervision

Inform Project Manager(s) of progress on assigned projects and request work when needed

Maintain an organized work area to allow access to project information by other team members

Flexible in work assignments and team assignments
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design from an accredited institution of higher education

6 years' experience in civil design

Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD-Civil 3D

Effective oral and written communication skills

Effective interpersonal skills for interaction with colleagues, clients, and public agency officials

Ability to work interdependently within a team environment

Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and track and prioritize workload

Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or daily as changes occur in project needs

Must be able to work 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with water/wastewater inside-the-fence facilities for municipal clients

Experience in water/wastewater underground utilities (outside-the-fence)

Proficiency in MicroStation and OpenRoads
