Medical Assistant/LVN – Orthopedics (Bilingual)
Overview: Washington Orthopedic Spine & Injury Center is a multi-specialty orthopedic practice servicing patients injured in accidents. We have an immediate opening for a full-time Medical Assistant to join our team.
Qualified applicants must have at least two years of professional experience as a medical assistant/LVN, degree or course work beyond high school and the ability to multi-task. Bilingual Spanish speaker.
Essential Functions & Duties:
- Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas, assisting and escorting patients to the exam room
- Perform complete intake process as specified by Physician and/or Physician Assistant, interviewing patients and recording patient’s medical information and histories
- Enter and maintain Electronic Health Records information
- Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatment & maintenance, including sterilization
- Assist Physicians and PA in preparing for minor procedures, injections and treatments, to include assisting with suture removal, dressings, splints, and venipuncture
- Recognize and appropriately respond to occasional emergency situations
- Report significant changes in patient condition or other pertinent patient information to the Physician and/or PA
- Provide patient education as directed, (DME, CPM, Bracing, etc)
- Following provider instructions, demonstrate accurate, timely and efficient follow through with pharmacy refills, scheduling out of clinic procedures, obtaining, reporting, and tracking of lab results, leaving phone messages, and distributing faxes
- Working directly with Physicians, Physicians Assistant and Clinical staff
- Responding to patient phone calls
- Oversee clinical operations
Knowledge and Skills
- At least two years’ experience working as a medical assistant/LVN
- Degree or course work beyond High School
- Commitment to customer service with compassion and caring
- Attention to detail and ability to multi-task
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records
- Excellent Computer Skills, Microsoft Office
- Strong written, verbal and communication skills a must
- Orthopedic experience preferred
Working Conditions
- Must be able to assist patients with standing, sitting and getting on/off the examination table
- Fast paced environment. Constant interaction with physicians and patients
- Must be able to stand, pivot and walk frequently throughout the day
