Maintaining the cleanliness and operation of the Lakeway Activity Center. Responsibilities include cleaning of rooms, hallways, lobby, restrooms, kitchens, other work areas and providing room set up/dismantling of furnishings and equipment (tables, chairs, sound system) for a variety of events and programs. Some minor maintenance of building and equipment consisting of painting, changing filters, water softeners, landscaping duties (water, fertilizing, planting) and other routine upkeep. Operation of facility equipment including sound system, theater lights, floor machine, pressure washer, vacuum, and other various types of support equipment. Ensure all Audio/Visual equipment is properly maintained and operational for events which require Audio/Visual equipment. Act as a point of contact with customer for day of event rental needs. Must display a friendly, customer focused, and positive attitude.

MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Building Maintenance
- Maintain a safe and clean facility environment.
- Operate and train staff on all Audio/Visual equipment and ensure proper storage and care.
- Maintain inventory of Audio/Visual equipment including projectors; microphones; headsets; lapels; iPad lighting system; laptop computer and notify Crew Leader or delegate of any damage or loss of Audio/Visual support equipment during events.
- Maintain sweeping; mopping; sanitizing; vacuuming and shampooing floors in buildings.
- Dust and clean facility; sanitize bathrooms and drinking fountains; replenish and maintain bathroom supplies; including soap dispensers; tissues and towels.
- Perform minor maintenance on facility; furnishings and equipment as required.
- Check and inspect areas for hazards and spills; take necessary steps to remedy situations that might present a danger; utilize precautions to prevent accidents.
- Report to Activity City Manager any safety violations.
Events/Programs
- Arrange set-up of chairs; tables; skirting; tablecloths; and equipment for events/programs; dismantle or re-arrange rooms for up-coming events; and properly store equipment and furnishings afterwards.

- Provide efficient and courteous customer service to Activity Center patrons; responding to patron concerns and complaints and/or relaying matter to proper supervisor.
- Help to transfer items to storage center; purchase needed supplies; put out/pick up banners and flyers or provide assistance at City events.

- Enforce rules/regulations concerning use of facility and ensure adherence to contractual terms. Notify proper authorities when assistance is required.
- Ensure facility is cleaned after events/programs. Clean-up includes sweeping; vacuuming; mopping floors; collecting and disposing trash; cleaning kitchen and kitchen appliances; washing and putting away dishes and kitchen equipment; and making sure restrooms are stocked; free of debris and clean.
- Check and inspect areas for hazards and spills; take necessary steps to remedy situations that might present a danger; utilize precautions to prevent accidents.
- Must exercise independent judgment; and maintain confidentiality when required.
- May act as a back-up to the Activity Center Administrative Assistants.
- May assist with Parks and Recreation programs or special events; some which are held after hours or holidays.
- Conveys a positive; professional image by action; communication and appearance.
- Exhibits regular; reliable and punctual attendance.
- Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of customer service, custodial, maintenance, event set-up/dismantling or related experience.
- Experience working in a facility similar to that of the Activity Center is preferred.
- Experience in audio-visual and lightning equipment similar to that of the Activity Center, preferred.
- or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Proof of citizenship and/or eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Class C Driver’s License, with a satisfactory driving record, prior to hire.
- Successfully pass a criminal history background check.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Typical administrative practices and processes associated with local government offices or functions; or possess ability to acquire and put such knowledge into practice.
- General computer operations; specifically, familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
- Office machines, such as scanner; computer; copier and fax machine; and other office practices and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of custodial or janitorial duties and building maintenance duties.
- Either possess knowledge of safety standards applicable to jobs accomplished at the Activity Center or be able to be trained to a complete understanding of all such safety standards.
- Set up and operate audio-visual equipment; including but not limited to lighting; microphones and projection systems.
- Provide excellent public relations and customer service, often to multiple customers during the same time period.
- Communicate effectively in the English language in person; by telephone; and by e-mail with all levels of management; City officials; vendors; other employees; and the general public.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work is weekdays; weekends; and evenings; there will be some occasional holidays.
- Most work will be at the Lakeway Activity Center however occasional work may take place in an outdoor setting in extreme temperatures including; heat; cold; temperature swings and inclement weather subject to wet or humid conditions; sunburn; and sun exposure reactions.
- May work in locations that require climbing; walking; crouching; crawling in all weather conditions. May be exposed to falls from elevated areas.
- May be exposed to stinging and biting insects; poisonous plants; snakes and other wildlife.
- May encounter occasional stressful situations.
- If approved by City; may drive a vehicle to purchase supplies or equipment; to post notices or banners; and to support Parks and Recreational events.
- Must be able to use step-stools and step-ladders to store and retrieve items of various sizes; shapes and forms weighing up to 50 pounds and push; pull or drag up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to bend or stoop to retrieve files or other materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to handle occasional stressful situations.
- Must possess mental acuity for attention to accuracy and detail.
- Must see in the normal visual range with or without correction.
