Injection Molding Maintenance/Manager/ Technician
The Injection Molding Maintenance/ Manager/ Technician position will install, troubleshoot, modify, rebuild, and repair injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment. This role is specifically for those with a deep knowledge of plastics injection molding. The role involves troubleshooting all injection molding machines with goal of keeping the production floor running 24/7.
In addition, the Maintenance/ Manager/Technician will be troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical or hydraulic repairs, and preventative maintenance activities as required to maintain building, facilities, and plant equipment.
Experience and Requirements:
Must have excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose problems and make decisions as to the appropriate corrective action.
Install, troubleshoot, repair, or replace injection molding machines, screws, barrels, pumps, motors, heater bands and rings.
Install, troubleshoot, repair, or replace auxiliary equipment including PLC’s, robotics, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and conveyor systems.
Install, troubleshoot, repair, or replace chillers, thermolators, hot runner controllers, loader systems, and grinders.
Installs and modifies new and existing injection molding equipment.
Performs maintenance and repairs of buildings, fixtures and grounds including HVAC, roofing, plumbing and electrical systems.
Perform and develop preventative maintenance checklists and intervals for PM completion on presses, robots, conveyors, and facilities equipment.
A team player and can interact with various department personnel to ensure work is completed thoroughly and efficiently.
Assists Supervisors, Process Techs, Set-Up Techs, Material Handlers, and QC regarding machine maintenance, operation, and terminology when needed.
Works with purchasing to maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking inventory levels; anticipating needs; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
Implements and executes safety related improvements on machines, auxiliary equipment, and facilities.
Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
Installs auxiliary mold connections to presses.
Updates preventative maintenance work order checklists.
Knowledge and experience with electrical systems ranging from 24 VDC to 480 VAC 3 phase.
Completes any welding, soldering, or brazing using acetylene torches and/or welding equipment.
Tear down equipment, rebuild and replace defective parts and component units as needed, reassemble, and make final equipment adjustments.
Performs minor building and facility repairs and rearrangements as required by maintaining and updating plant systems and facilities to meet current production requirements.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High School diploma or GED equivalent required
Minimum of 7 years of experience of maintenance in injection molding manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of engineering concepts including pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, conveyor and mechanical systems, HVAC, and plumbing.
Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, and troubleshoot PLC’s.
Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects and work under tight deadlines.
Analytical and detail oriented, able to work with all levels within the organization.
Ability to use variety of hand and power tools, overhead cranes, lathes, welders.
Familiar with mold setup, concepts, and applications.
Prior experience performing PM.
Proven safety record.
Lift objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
Proactive in keeping a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
