Cat loving LVT wanted!
Busy feline only practice in Reston at Lake Anne Plaza is seeking full time licensed veterinary technician comfortable with anesthesia and cat-friendly handling. Candidates must have excellent written and verbal skills, collaborative attitude, ability to multi-task, enjoy working with cats, and be comfortable with surgical procedures. This position involves both surgery days and appointment days each week. We are willing to train!
Responsibilities:
- Intake appointments, perform treatments, administer medications and vaccines, collect and process lab samples (including ultrasound-guided cystos), take radiographs, monitor dropped-off and hospitalized patients, take BPs with both doppler and HDO machines, etc
- Check in and discharge surgery and drop-off patients
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures including IVC placement, intubation, local blocks, etc
- Monitor and manage sedation and anesthesia during surgical procedures and sedated exams
- Perform dental radiographs as well as scaling and polishing
- Manage case flow during ultrasound days (we have MiVU come in once a week to do up to 5 ultrasounds in a morning)
- Utilize feline-friendly handling, evaluate FAS and FGS scores
- Client education
- Accurate medical record-keeping
- Utilize various apps for intra-clinic communication and scheduling, must have smart phone
- Hospital cleaning and equipment maintenance as needed
Shifts are Mon-Fri, typically 5x8hrs between 8a-10p.
We are an AAHA accredited and AAFP Feline Friendly Gold Certified practice.
