The Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail is looking for confident, Licensed Practical Nurses who are Professional, effective, curious, independent, self-motivated communicators, enjoy daily challenges, educate patients, and work at the top of their scope of practice in a secure environment.
The Licensed Practical Nurse performs direct nursing care to inmates located at Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail.
Key responsibilities are;
Obtains medical and mental health history and baseline vital signs, administers the TST, obtains consent for treatment, and initiates nursing protocols with documentation in the electronic medical record. Prepares and administers ordered medication, processes medical requests, triages and stabilizes persons in emergent and non-emergent situations, assesses patients during sick calls, assists medical providers as needed during clinic visits and medical rounds, obtaining and processing lab specimens, documents all sharps and narcotics used, maintains confidentially of inmate information and medical records, handle phone calls as needed, prepares transfer and paperwork for patients being released from our care and performs other duties as designated by the HSA.
PHYSICAL AND DEXERITY REQUIREMENTS: Requires work that involves walking or standing, pushing and pulling involves exerting up to 50 pounds of force on a recurring basis and requires frequent keyboard operations. The job risks potential exposure to biohazards. The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities, color perception. Responsible for guiding others, requiring frequent decisions affecting co‐workers and others who depend on the service or product; works in a moderate to highly fluid environment with rules and procedures but with many variations from the routine.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: Must have a valid VA state driver’s license. Must hold or be eligible for CPR/AED Certifications. Must maintain a Commonwealth of Virginia licensure in Licensed Practical Nursing.
WORK EXPERIENCE: One year working as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Emergency Services Training; Experience in the corrections setting is preferred but not required.
EDUCATION: Must have graduated from an accredited LPN program.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Full time position has benefits that include Health insurance for family currently $330 and dental $65 monthly respectively, vision and participation in the Virginia State Retirement system or VRS. Salary is based on experience, Hiring Salary starts at $75,982-$93,600 annually or $36.53-$40.00 per hour
Overnight shift differential paid
Up to $5,000 in Tuition reimbursement is offered. The reimbursement will be paid back if employment ends before three years of service.

Responsibilities:
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any deviations from normal
- Assist in medical procedures such as cardiac catheterization and botulinum toxin treatments
- Conduct phlebotomy procedures for diagnostic testing

Experience:
