ABOUT THE JOB
This position is responsible for checking in, shelving, and retrieving library materials; and reading shelves to maintain numerical and alphabetical order. The work is performed under the supervision of the Circulation Assistant IV or Circulation Supervisor.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK
Check in library materials from outside and inside book drops; inspect materials for damage.
Organize and shelve materials according to the classification system employed by the library. Maintain accurate order of materials on shelves.
Straighten work areas and patron seating areas by picking up materials and debris and arranging chairs.
Search and pull materials from a list.
Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and hear, and to use hands and arms to handle objects, tools, or controls. Other physical activities of the job include walking, climbing, bending, lifting objects weighing up to 40 lbs., pushing carts up to 150 lbs., and standing and sitting for long periods of time.
Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work a varied schedule of hours to include evenings, holidays, and weekends.
