General Description:
All duties related to accounting including performing routine accounting and financial close responsibilities for various accounting processes associated within Accounting such as Revenue, Joint Interest Billing, and Financial Reporting. This position is responsible for a variety of tasks including the timely and accurate processing of monthly JIB and Revenue statements.
Special focus to be placed on:
- Compiles and analyzes routine and recurring transactions to support accounting activities.
- Records journal entries accurately, adhering to accounting standards and company guidelines.
- Performs monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Analyzes and reconciles specific general ledger accounts to maintain accurate financial records.
- Aids in the month-end close process by preparing schedules and assisting with financial reporting.
- Assists with audit requests and provides necessary documentation and support.
- Set up new projects, AFEs, and vendors in accordance with company procedures.
- Assists in the preparation of financial statements and reports as needed.
- Records revenue and royalty payable for outside operated and operated oil and gas leases.
- Monitors accounts receivable aging report to ensure timely working interest owner payments while communicating with managers to ensure overdue invoices are addressed.
- Supports the accounting for complex, non-routine transactions
- Applies basic accounting principles and concepts for decision making
- Maintains and adheres to internal control structure
- Reviews, analyzes and ensures transactions comply with regulatory requirements
- Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries
- Participates in department projects; identify and recommend best practices and improvements to processes
- Provides analysis and support for special projects and assists with ad hoc projects as needed

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred; equivalent work experience may be substituted.
- 2+ years of experience in a similar role; experience within the oil and gas industry is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, for data entry and analysis.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Ability to solve problems accurately and exhibit exceptional proficiency in data management, including spreadsheet proficiency to assist in data entry and financial record-keeping.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Typing skills to input data efficiently and accurately into spreadsheets. Ability to work independently or in a collaborative environment.
- Must take the initiative to meet internal deadlines consistently; demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines.
- Maintain a positive attitude and be adaptive to change.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with vendors, colleagues, and stakeholders.
