Kice Industries is looking to add an experienced Purchasing Agent to the team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a manufacturing environment. Duties will include researching, evaluating, and negotiating pricing and payment terms on products and materials; creating purchase orders; maintaining supplier relationships; tracking shipments, and acting as a resource for the Sales and Manufacturing departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensures inventory of parts and raw materials are adequate to meet production needs.
2. Determines highest value supplier for parts and negotiates pricing and payment terms.
3. Completes Requests for Quotes on specific parts, systems or components received from Sales and Manufacturing departments.
4. Manages critical, limited source products to ensure availability.
5. Oversees parts and component orders with longer lead times and tracks progress.
6. Updates and maintains purchased parts “sell” prices and profit margins to ensure accuracy.
7. Gains expertise on assigned parts and products and understands uses of parts and products.
8. Evaluates new parts and products to determine usefulness and introduces and/or provides training to other departments.
9. Troubleshoots issues and works with manufacturing and sales team to resolve issues.
10. Researches, identifies, and secures new vendors to receive competitive pricing.
11. Maintains supplier price list to ensure accuracy.
12. Tracks and ensures delivery of ordered parts and raw materials are delivered timely.
13. Provides outstanding customer service to internal customers.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Previous purchasing experience working in steel fabrication or related industry strongly preferred.
2. Previous experience with MRP / ERP systems preferred.
3. Ability to communicate verbally in one-on-one situations with management and co-workers; listen to others without interrupting and get clarification when needed.
4. Strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy.
5. Exhibits dependability, including following instructions; responding to supervisor’s direction; and taking responsibility for own actions.
6. Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed; performs work independently without being prompted
7. Ability to prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently; and work within deadlines.
