Legacy Academy is a tuition-free, K-8 charter school serving families from several communities in Elbert and Douglas counties. We are a 1:1 iPad school, meaning that every student and staff member has an iPad Air to use during the school year. Each of our classrooms has access to current technology, and the staff is continually searching for new and innovative approaches to education. Legacy has a technology focus and is looking for individuals to join our innovative team. We are currently seeking a Reading Specialist for the 2024/25 school year. This individual serves as support at classroom levels in the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of Response to Intervention, assessment literacy, balanced assessment, and Classroom Assessment for Student Learning. This individual also needs to be proficient in their content area(s), willing to maintain and enrich their expertise, as well as possess a strong desire to integrate technology in the classroom.

Responsibilities:
- Ability to work with an innovative online and interactive curriculum.
- Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences and creative projects.
- Provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
- Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.
- Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and the community.
- Provide direct and indirect instruction.
- Maintain the privacy of student records and information.
- Evaluates students who may be struggling with reading
- Creates, data-driven, targeted lessons to increase literacy skills in struggling readers
- Instructs small groups of students in all grades K-5
- Collaborates with teachers, other specialists, and school staff to determine how best to help students
- Advises on reading curriculum and best practices in reading instruction
- Meets with teachers to review data and make recommendations
- Oversees intervention groups; ensuring that there is coverage for every group and individual group needs are being met
- Keeps up to date records of school’s reading data and reports to administration
Job Qualifications:
Prior experience as a reading specialist is preferred.
Reports to: Principal / Assistant Principal
Salary: $50K-70K yearly. Based on experience and qualifications.
