Preschool Teacher (2 years Experience Required, Part Time)
Are you interested in making a difference in the lives of young children? We are seeking a nurturing and experienced Preschool Teacher to join our staff. You will help develop curriculum for three year olds within our student population and implement lesson plans throughout the school day, including small group rotations. Our program utilizes a highly interactive play based approach that balances our teaching practice with aspects of guided education. This is a part time position providing 25 hours per week with hours of 8:30am-1:30pm. However we will consider additional hours for an ideal candidate. We prefer candidates who have a background in early childhood developmental education and extensive experience working with young children. An added benefit is one who has background in Conscious Discipline techniques.
Responsibilities:
· Plans, organizes, and delivers instruction to meet individual and group needs utilizing state guidelines and school curriculum.
· Leads developmentally appropriate activities to encourage healthy physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development for students.
· Acts in the best interests of students and models appropriate behaviors in all professional interactions.
· Empowers the Assistant Teacher to implement curriculum and plan with excellence.
· Works closely with the Parent Educator in a team approach to facilitate understanding child behaviors and addressing parental/familial concerns that affect children’s participation in the program.
· Creates a positive learning environment which is safe, mutually respectful, and conducive to building self esteem for the children and adults in the program.
Requirements:
· B.S. or M.A. in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or equivalent
· 3 Years + of experience working with young children
· Ability to work creatively and flexibly
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous teaching experience or work related experience is desired.
- Demonstrate knowledge of positive parenting skills, Conscious Discipline background preferred
- Ability to work positively and appropriately with children and families in group and one-on-one settings
- Model poise, good judgment, patience and appropriate behavior related to working with children and adults in a positive and non-judgmental manner
