We are looking for an energetic, self-starting Fire Apparatus Designer/Engineer for our Trucks division. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a trusted, well respected, family-owned business that is continually expanding.

As a Fire Apparatus Designer/Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and/or engineering component and body assemblies used in the manufacture of emergency response apparatus ranging from utility rescues to heavy rescues and fire engines.
The fire apparatus designer/engineer will be required to proficiently design and/or engineer fire apparatus bodies and accessories utilizing 2D and 3D modeling software and publish construction documentation with Adobe Acrobat. The position requires on property work attendance. Occasionally individuals will be required to assist on the manufacturing floor and thus shall be capable of extended periods of standing, stooping, bending, and balancing. Individuals should have manual dexterity, fine manipulation, and the ability to reach with hands and arms and lift-up to 50 pounds max. Use of ladders and rolling staircases included in equipment to complete job duties.
Essential Functions:
- Accurately read and interpret a measuring tape, digital and/or dial calipers, angle finder and protractor.
- Create and/or follow written assembly instructions, drawings, and blueprints. With knowledge of fraction to decimal and imperial to metric conversions.
- Knowledge of 3D modeling software, preferably Autodesk Inventor; Solid Works and Pro E also acceptable.
- Knowledge of 2D CAD software, preferably Autodesk AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, primarily Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to communicate with others to provide necessary details.
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Some knowledge of heavy/medium duty Truck layout and builds.
- Able to contribute in a fast paced/team atmosphere.
- Learn and apply valuable skills and gain useful knowledge.
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical agility test and criminal background check.
- Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.
- Must be able to climb ladders.
- Must be able to follow directions and pay attention to detail.

Additional skills and experience that will be considered:
- Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering.
- Basic too extensive knowledge for GD&T.
- At least one year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in customization of both automotive and heavy-duty vehicles regarding the body, chassis, or cab interior.
- Understanding of low- and high-pressure air systems.
- Knowledge or understanding of water pump plumbing.
- Understanding of RV or residential plumbing.

Compensation: $23.00 - $36.00/Hour DOE
Job Type: Full-time, Hourly, Non-Exempt, Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm (6:00am-3:30pm and possible Saturday overtime)
