Key Responsibilities:
Medical Billing and Coding: Utilize your ambulance billing expertise to review ambulance service records and accurately translate medical procedures, diagnoses, and supplies into billing codes.
Claims Submission: Prepare and submit insurance claims related to ambulance services to various payers, ensuring compliance with billing guidelines and regulations.
Claims Follow-Up: Monitor the status of submitted claims, follow up on any denials or rejections specific to ambulance billing, and resolve billing discrepancies in a timely manner.
Payment Posting: Skillfully post payments received from insurance companies, patients, and other payers to patient accounts, applying your knowledge of ambulance billing procedures.
Billing Inquiries: Address inquiries from patients, insurance companies, and other stakeholders regarding ambulance billing statements and insurance coverage.
Documentation: Maintain organized and accurate billing records, leveraging your ambulance billing experience, while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
Reconciliation: Utilize your specialized knowledge in ambulance billing to reconcile billing records with financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Regulatory Compliance: Apply your deep understanding of ambulance billing regulations to stay current with changes in medical billing codes, insurance regulations, and healthcare billing guidelines.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; formal education in medical billing and coding is a plus.
- Proven experience as an Ambulance Biller, Medical Biller, or in a similar role with specialized experience in ambulance billing within the healthcare industry.
- Proficiency in medical coding systems (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) and billing software.
- Strong understanding of insurance claims processing and reimbursement procedures, specifically related to ambulance services.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in coding, data entry, and record keeping.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, insurance companies, and other stakeholders.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of healthcare billing regulations.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with other team members.
- Problem-solving skills to address billing discrepancies and resolve issues.
