The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is the nation’s largest public housing authority, with an operation budget of $3.3 billion and over 11,000 employees who manage and maintain 311 developments that house about 400,000 residents. NYCHA also operates the country’s largest Section 8 program, which provides rental assistance to about 200,000 additional people.
NYCHA’s Learning and Development Department delivers and provides service coordination of training and professional development for NYCHA employees to do their jobs safely and effectively. We are currently seeking a Training Manager to support the Deputy Director of Learning & Development. The Training Manager (Janitorial & Grounds) manages the day-to-day operations of the Janitorial and Grounds Training Unit, while providing leadership to the training staff and technical support in Janitorial and Grounds Operation for the entire Authority.
The successful candidate must have extensive experience and knowledge of the Janitorial and Grounds (JGS) Operation at NYCHA. The Training Manager must be able to drive the development of instruction that is designed to ensure Caretakers and their supervisors gain skills that translate into improved service and performance. The candidate must be able to create, develop, revise, implement and facilitate courses that educate employees on the processes of the Janitorial and Grounds operation at a NYCHA development. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Perform needs assessment and research; working closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop learning requirements aligned with agency and employee needs.
2. Oversee training design projects from inception to completion, driving milestones, meeting deadlines, and reprioritizing as needed to meet departmental and agency goals.
3. Monitor performance goals, indicators, project plans, and budgets.
4. Manage the scheduling of training and learning programs.
5. Directly supervise and coach Janitorial & Grounds trainers and a Caretaker X.
6. Manage the creation and presentation of all JGS training programs.
7. Conduct training as necessary.
8. Take part in special projects as necessary.
9. Perform other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, plus eight years of supervisory experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of large tenanted buildings; four years of which must have been in responsible charge of properties
having not less than seven maintenance and operations employees and at least 18 months of which must have been in an administrative capacity; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidates must have at least four years of experience in responsible charge of properties having not less than seven maintenance and operations employees, at least 18 months of which must have in an administrative capacity.
