Responsible for performing skilled labor work in the HVAC field. Troubleshoots and repair mechanical HVAC systems and related equipment i.e. swamp coolers, exhaust fans etc. Works under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job’s overall responsibilities.)
- Assists in the preparation of a preventive maintenance program. Assists in data input and maintaining accurate records on facilities maintenance programs and projects.
- Maintain a wide range of facilities, equipment and tools related to the assigned area of responsibility; routine preventative maintenance functions and assuring work area is clean prior to leaving job site.
- Maintain department vehicles; wash trucks; check oil, tire pressures, check lights and signals for proper operation.
- Utilize proper safety precautions related to all work performed.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctioning equipment such as refrigeration units, transformers, motors, and lighting fixture and replaces damaged or broken parts, wires and cables.
- Tests malfunctioning equipment and discusses malfunction and repair options with General Maintenance Supervisor and Facilities Maintenance Manager.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration systems including icemakers, beer coolers, freezers and packaged heating and cooling units.
- Replaces faulty electrical components such as relays, switches, and motors.
- Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components.
- Replace HVAC units with like for like units when required.
- Maintains consistent record of acceptable attendance and punctuality according to policy guidelines.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assume leadership responsibilities when Tech I or laborers are assigned to job or project with the Tech III.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Sufficient Training and education to demonstrate possession of required knowledge, skills and qualifications are required.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Five years of current HVAC related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have current knowledge of electrical codes, installation, repair, recharging and of freon.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current HVAC certification. Valid Arizona driver's license and good driving record for insurance purposes.
