We are a community-based behavioral health agency providing evidence-based mental and behavioral health therapies for children and youth and their parents/caregivers, including some currently in foster care. All childcare takes place onsite at OCP and is scheduled and provided only when the parent or caregiver is also onsite.
This is a part time/hourly position (approximately 10-15 hours per week Monday through Friday between 8:45am and 6:15pm)
- Base compensation: $18.83 per hour (may be higher depending on pay equity differentials)
- 6-month review: performance-based increase up to 3%
Play with children in designated childcare spaces at OCP containing toys and simple activities, snacks provided, and supervise/monitor their safety. Children’s ages range from 0-12 years old. Responsibilities do not include changing diapers (you would alert the caregiver to do that). The typical length of one play session is 1-2 hours. Some play sessions involve one or two children, some involve up to five children. NOTE: This is not a daycare position.
When there are down times in-between childcare sessions, this person will also assist the Office Supervisor and provide office support as needed. This would include reception back-up, maintaining office and kitchen inventories; stocking supplies; monthly kitchen maintenance, and simple paperwork tasks.
- Create a welcoming and fun childcare setting. Be creative and energetic with a positive, open-minded attitude.
- Demonstrate understanding of developmentally appropriate behavior for children.
- Establish a good relationship with the children that combines warmth and humor with effective skills.
- Ability to remain calm in potentially stressful circumstances and respond neutrally if a child acts out.
- Set up and clean up childcare space after each childcare session. Clean toys as needed with spray cleaner and weekly in the dishwasher.
- Maintain daily childcare log and guardian waivers.
- Prior childcare experience
- Have or obtain 1st Aid & CPR certification as part of the mandatory training in the first week of employment (paid by OCP).
- Comfortable accepting feedback and supervision and seeking support as needed.
- Provide good references.
- Pass criminal background check.
- Must be dependable, reliable, and punctual.
- Comfortable getting up and down from the floor.
- Ability to lift 25lbs.
- Ability to sit, squat, and stand for at least 15 minutes at a time.
This position qualifies for Oregon Sick Leave Law:
- Receive 1 hour of protected sick time for every 30 hours you work, up to 40 hours of sick time per year. You can start taking sick time after you’ve worked for your employer for 90 days (about 3 months).
