Job Summary:
The On-Call Registered Nurse (RN) will provide professional, compassionate, ethical and knowledgeable services to those clients needing detoxification services. The RN’s role will include but is not limited to: performing comprehensive health evaluations, risk assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation of client’s status and plan of care, consistent with the Washington State Nursing Act while maintaining the highest ethical standards and safety practices. The RN will work closely with a team of healthcare professionals in the facility to ensure quality client care and maintain staff safety. The RN will work directly under ABHS’ contracted physician and be aware of their limitations, seeking advice when necessary. The Registered Nurse understands that by accepting this position there is potential exposure to internal and external hazardous materials including but not limited to: blood borne pathogens and infectious/communicable diseases.
Minimum Qualifications:
The Registered Nurse will possess an Associate Degree in Nursing (A.D.N.) or a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (B.S.N.) accompanied by a current unrestricted Washington State Nursing License. Must possess a current BLS/CPR training card. The ideal candidate will have 1 year of experience working with addicted clients in a residential facility environment.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to communicate both verbally and in written form, use a computer keyboard, physically perform all necessary job functions and actively travel throughout the facility.
Work Environment:
Must be able to work independently; work and communicate with other professionals in an effective and professional manner; must have appropriate time management skills and meet required deadlines; be able to work under stressful conditions.
Perform all nursing duties in accordance with the Washington State Nursing Act and WAC 246-840-700 while adhering to all facility policies and procedures.
Assist physician and all staff caring for clients, providing a complete and thorough report on client status at the end of the shift.
Complete Risk Assessments for all clients as necessary.
Monitor client progress and identify any changes in status, acting on those changes to ensure client safety and comfort.
Complete and monitor the client’s vitals consistent with physician’s orders.
Perform routine nursing care to assigned clients, while always utilizing universal
precaution practices,
Adhere to all ABHS policies and procedures when disposing of biohazardous
materials.
Communicate with all staff, clients, and families consistent with ABHS policies and all HIPPA standards.
Handle and operate all necessary medical equipment utilized in the care of each client.
Must be able to perform various sensory requirements such as; vision, speech, smell, touch, manual dexterity, fine motor skills and hearing to assess and treat clients accurately.
Actively demonstrate a working knowledge of nursing theory, techniques and practice to holistically care for the client.
Consistently seek education to broaden knowledge of best practices.
Administer and monitor client medications consistent with physician’s orders and best practices.
Provide health education to clients and families.
Comply with all ABHS policies and procedures.
Be punctual and dependable for scheduled shifts.
All other various other duties as assigned, appropriate to the position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- ADN or BSN.
- Current, valid Registered Nursing license in Washington State.
- Must have BLS/CPR training card and present at time of hire.
