Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Senior Program Director, the Front Desk Security Guard is responsible for helping to maintain the safety of our premises. In this role the candidate will provide site access control monitoring of activities and equipment, assist staff with sign-in procedures, monitor security equipment, patrol the premises, investigate disturbances, and provide de-escalation services as appropriate.
Responsibilities include:
- Preventing illegal or inappropriate actions by maintaining a high visibility presence.
- Performing access control procedures with center members and visitors.
- Patrolling the older adult center, specific areas of the building, and perimeters of the premises.
- Informing center members and visitors of security procedures and acting on non-compliance.
- Facilitating OAC front desk daily sign-in procedures for center members and visitors.
- Helping with the flow of OAC membership and visitors into and out of the premises.
- Monitoring video surveillance systems.
- Investigating suspicious activities and disturbances.
- Immediate reporting of security breaches to designated personnel.
- Performing maintenance checks on access points and security systems.
- Documenting observations and surveillance activities.
- Adhering to security industry regulations as well as NYC Aging and DOH standards and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Successful completion of NYS Security Guard training, licensing, and registration preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role preferred.
- Knowledge of deterring illegal activity and performing access control.
- Knowledge of security systems and surveillance equipment.
- Knowledge of security industry regulations.
- Experience in documenting security procedures and observations.
- Advanced ability to respond to security breaches and threats.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to use computers for light data entry.
- Experience working with clients who are 60 or older (preferred).
- Walking and standing are required.
Schedule
Monday-Friday (35 hours per week) from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Please note that this position requires the availability and flexibility to occasionally work Saturdays and some holidays.
Project FIND participates in E-Verify, which confirms employment authorization through an electronic database maintained by the Social Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security. The E-Verify process is completed in conjunction with the Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification. E-Verify is not used as a tool to pre-screen candidates.
