Philadelphia Technician Training Institute (PTTI) has an available opportunity for a Concrete Masonry Instructor. There will be a major emphasis on teaching. This will be executed via working with PTTI's students in a hands on enviroment.
To be successful as a concrete masonry instructor, you should be up to date with the latest technology involving concrete and masonry work, possess the knowledge and skill of a specialist in the field and maintain a high standard of work. Your ability to meet job specifications and make top-class finishes in concrete work will ensure our students are successful.
Concrete & Masonry Instructor Job duties and responsibilities:
- Teaching (25-30 hours per week)
- Plans, develops and uses effective teaching methods and materials which assist students in meeting course objectives
- Understand that student have diverse educational backgrounds and learning styles
- Engage students in classroom materials
- Maintain regular office hours, grade records.
- Respond to requests for information in a timely manner
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings
- Provide support for associate faculty
- Identify student learning outcomes: develop processes and tools for assessment incorporate results to modify instruction and materials in coordination with colleagues
Concrete & Masonry Instruction will cover the following:
- Designing and building forms
- Setting up the forms
- Pouring concrete
- Spreading and smoothing concrete
- Molding expansion joints and edges
- Using stains or colors to add the finishing touch.
- Adding small stones or other materials for decoration
- Applying waterproofing and sealant to protect the concrete work
- Monitoring the material to ensure it hardens to a durable finish
- Maintaining tools and workspaces
- Cutting, shaping and dressing materials.
- Lifting, carrying and placing prepared blocks
- Reading and following technical drawings
- Mixing cement and mortar.
- Restoring old and worn masonry.
Concrete Laborer Requirements:
- High school diploma
- 10 years industry experience or 3 years apprenticeship under a journeymen
Schedule:
- Part-time
- 5 hour shifts
- Monday to Friday

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
