ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Server you are responsible to promote and ensure guest satisfaction, maintain a safe and sanitary work environment, and ensure only the highest quality products are being served. Establishes rapport with guests to build guest loyalty and gather constructive feedback to ensure satisfaction of every individual guest. As a server you may handle team member relations as it relates to service, and encourage problem solving by team members.
The Server is in charge of all food service functions and management of assigned dining room(s) sections. This position reports directly to the Service Director and indirectly to the General Manager, Assistant GM and the
Executive Chef. The Server works with Sr. Management and the Executive Chef in order to achieve profitability, guest satisfaction and efficiency while maintaining standards set by the Company.
Restaurant Server Responsibilities:
- Always greet and welcome guests promptly in a warm and friendly manner.
- Always thank and give fond farewell to guests conveying anticipation for their next visit.
- Assist guest with table reservation.
- Assist guest while seating.
- Ensure guests are serviced within specified time.
- Has a good knowledge of menu and presentation standards.
- Speak with guests and staff using clear and professional language, and answer phone calls using appropriate telephone etiquette.
- Able to answer any questions regarding menu and assist with menu selections.
- Able to anticipate any unexpected guest need and reacts promptly and tactfully.
- Always applies service techniques correctly at all times and serving Food & Beverage items with enthusiasm.
- Serve food courses and beverages to guests.
- Set tables according to type of event and service standards.
- Record transaction / orders in Point of Sales systems at the time of order.
- Communicate with the kitchen regarding any menu questions, the length of wait and product availability.
- Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen.
- Check with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and beverages.
- Responsible for clearing, collecting, and returning food and beverage items to proper area.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, glass, etc. throughout the shift.
- Reviews order dockets ensuring accurate and timely preparations for order requirements accordingly.
- Present accurate final bill to guest and process payment.
- Perform shift closing on the Point of sales terminal and tally cash and credit card settlements.
- Ensures that the restaurant is always kept clean and organized, both at the front as well as the back of house areas.
- Ensures that brand standards and SOP's are consistently implemented.
- Work with team members and manager(s) to ensure that the restaurant achieves its full potential.
- Completes the daily responsibilities that are set for each individual shift.
- Complete closing duties, including restocking items, turning off lights, etc.
- Conducts monthly inventory checks on all operating equipment and supplies.
- Take an active role in training and developing junior staff.
- Any other duties related to food and beverage service assigned by the manager.
- Implements, trains, and enforces all workplace safety policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES)
- High School diploma, or equivalent at a minimum; prefer formal hospitality training and a diploma from a recognized hotel school or university or international equivalent
- Minimum two (2) years of progressive experience in a fine dining restaurant
- Excellent communication skills and good command of the English language, knowledge of additional languages is a plus
- Strong supervisory skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment
- At least 21 years of age
- Excellent communications skills and customer service
- Self-motivated with the ability and initiative to work with minimal supervision
- Must have basic computer skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance
- Must undergo Alcohol Awareness Certification training on an ongoing basis.
- Must maintain all health, TAM and key certifications as may be required.
- Basic mathematical skills specific to job responsibilities are required, to include ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide specific to position responsibilities.
- Ability to deliver a service level which creates an atmosphere that makes our guests want to return, giving each guest a positive, memorable entertainment experience.
- Must present an image of excitement, enthusiasm and outgoing personality, while being able to project a professional demeanor.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays is required.
- Must possess knowledge of both food and beverage items.
- Must be able to make cash transactions accurately.

The employee must be flexible with work hours. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Work is typically in an area which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, smoky, indoor and/or outdoor service. Work may be performed in small areas with 3 feet access. Tasks include maintenance, care and cleanliness of an assigned area. Work entails chemical usage.
SAFETY/SANITATION/HACCP/OSHA Guidelines:
- Must be able to demonstrate and ensure that the department is within HACCP guidelines.
- Must ensure and comply with a safe and hazard free work environment according to the Department of Health and OSHA regulations.
- Have knowledge of where your SDS booklet is located for your department and understand its contents.
- Display knowledge of all safety emergency procedures.
- Responsible for adhering to cleanliness, safety and sanitation standards in accordance with department policies and the Department of Health.
- Implement, train and enforce all Work Safety & Health policies.
