Oneness-Family Montessori High School is seeking a High School Science Teacher (Full or Part Time) to join our motivated and collaborative teaching team for the 2024/25 school year. The Science Teacher will plan, teach, and oversee all aspects of the science curriculum from grades 9-12 within the framework of a Montessori Adolescent program. Courses will include physics, biology, chemistry, and environmental science, among other interdisciplinary elective options based on the interests and expertise of the candidate. While Montessori training is preferred, the ideal candidate can execute a student-centered, project-based, innovative program and possesses a flexible mindset and approach to learning. We are looking for a science teacher who is comfortable with a hands-on, experiential curriculum design.
The Montessori Adolescent Teacher accepts the challenge and the privilege of maintaining the role of a stable adult presence within the prepared adolescent environment. This professional is responsible for guiding the holistic development of the young people in the Adolescent Community as well as instructing students in academic disciplines.
Adults and students in the Montessori high school function in a community of learners in an atmosphere of mutual respect and support. The program provides a consistent, yet flexible, structure; high expectations for work and conduct; a system of accountability; opportunities for student-led learning; and a focus on problem-solving. The curriculum promotes independence, self-direction, metacognition, and critical thinking. At its core, the collective elements of the program are a means to build community, discover passion, deepen curiosity, and provide experiences for each adolescent to engage deeply and meaningfully in self-discovery.
