What You'll Do:
Collaboratively creates and implements the comprehensive vision and strategic plan for designated the Humanities team in partnership with the Schools Team, schools, and other academic departments.
Develops the capacity of district coaches to provide exemplary customer service, school support and professional learning opportunities to schools on equitable and linguistically responsive instruction, curriculum and assessment.
Analyze student achievement data to determine how to better develop materials and provide targeted, high quality teacher and school supports.
Collaboratively implements the district assessment strategy; provides professional learning to district coaches and directors of schools on assessments.
Builds a strong team culture grounded in district values and a commitment to excellence and service to schools.
Develops partnerships with the Schools Team to ensure impactful deployment of the district Humanities Instructional Specialists.
Informs the Humanities Director of progress on work streams, projects and issues as they arise.
Assists in the preparation and review of presentations, summaries, required reports, data and other documents needed for distribution to Teaching and Leaning, district senior leadership, other departments, and community.
What You’ll Need:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Five (5) or more years of teaching experience.
Two (2) or more years experience of coaching others, particularly in urban districts with multilingual learners.
Two (2) or more years of leadership and/ or management responsibility experience.
Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
Knowledge of evidence-based practices aligned to the science of reading research.
Excellent interpersonal, analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills required.
Self-starter/leader who can anticipate department needs in a proactive (versus, reactive) manner.
Ability to develop and interpret data and manage resources.
Strong communication interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to lead a high-performing team.
Ability to effectively lead a team.
Knowledge of Google products including Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides.
Ability to multi-task and juggle management of several high-priority projects in parallel; capacity to thrive in circumstances involving ambiguity and nuance.
High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.
Knowledge of best practices in curriculum instruction and standards-based education and effective instructional programs and methodologies.
