Summary
Under supervision of Education and Training Manager, incumbent will develop, coordinate, and implement EMS education programs -that fulfills the requirements mandated by the California Office of Emergency Medical Services, the Solano County Office of Emergency Medical Services (both didactic and clinical), and any other applicable accreditation agency or regulatory body regarding training, education, orientation, and performance of students. Incumbent will instruct or co-instruct EMT and Paramedic students in initial and refresher courses as well as any related courses to the EMS program including but not limited to CPR/BLS, PHTLS, ACLS, etc. Incumbent may from time to time need to instruct refresher courses for Medic Ambulance employees and their partners.
Applicants with EMS-related instructor experience in-lieu of degree will be considered.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops the curriculum for, aggregates class schedules, and implements primary and continuing education emergency medical programs, community education programs and school educational programs.
- Act as lead instructor, co-instructor, or assistant instructor to EMS academy courses and supplemental courses as directed by the Education and Training Manager or executive management of Medic Ambulance.
- Includes all local, state, and national requirements in the curriculum, upon request, and as required.
- Updates the curriculum as warranted in conjunction with the employer’s Medical Director and the Education and Training Manager.
- Oversees and participates in patient care in the process of training or ensuring license retention.
- Maintains records related to the program and its participants and compiles reports as needed.
- Maintains contact with other professionals in the field to share information concerning patient treatment techniques and educational practices.
- Lead, guide, and train staff, teaching assistants, skills instructors, and volunteers performing related work
- Participate in recruitment of volunteers as appropriate for simulations, trainings, and related activities
- In conjunction with Education and Training Manager, communicate with NREMT, California EMSA, and other relevant agencies in regards to a student’s progress, eligibility to test, and other communications.
- Organize and host simulation training, tabletop scenario training, and other methods of training for both EMS academy students and Medic Ambulance employees
- Regularly host office hours, lab days, and optional practice/study sessions for EMS academy students.
- Clean, reset, minor maintenance of, and set up of training equipment, simulation equipment, and instructional equipment and materials.
- Performs other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates within the scope of this classification.
- Attends internal and external/interagency meetings.
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree relating to Education required, Bachelor’s Degree or higher strongly preferred. EMS Instructor experience in-lieu of a degree will be considered.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Minimum 2 years full time (or full time equivalent) paramedic experience, preferably in California.
- Effective administrative skills (paperwork, time management), written and verbal communication skills.
- Possess a valid California driver's license, ambulance driver's license, and medical examiner's certificate.
- Possess a valid California Paramedic License.
- Possess Instructor Status in the following: BLS, ACLS, PALS, ITLS/PHTLS/BTLS, PEPP, AMLS, EVOC (or equivalent such as CEVO)

Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year

Experience:
