Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, Operations Managers, and Shift Leads, the Client Assistant (CA) is responsible for providing supervision and delivery of residential services to residents. This position is required to adhere to all agency Policies and Procedures and practices (time/attendance, cell phone, telecommunications, safety, remaining awake/alert, etc).
Responsibilities:
- Providing supervision of the residence, including coverage of the various areas of the facility.
AM/PM Shifts
- Monitor residents before, during and after treatment hours at both the clinic and the residence
- Provide assistance for clients who need support.
- Complete accountability forms to ensure all clients are accounted for.
- Develop rapport with clients and provide a safe environment for them.
- Monitoring entering and exiting residents coming in or leaving facility
- Communicate with treatment teams regarding clients' progress and concerns.
Overnight Shift
- Monitor residents as they sleep with hourly bed checks as assigned throughout the shift.
- Monitor entering and exiting residents coming in or leaving facility for approved reasons after hours.
- Work with residents who are awake after hours to assess needs and help facilitate requests or conflicts that may occur to keep premises stable and calm.
- Monitor premises by doing rounds of facility as assigned throughout the shift.
- In compliance with established PCH policies and procedures, provide support for the Treatment team including, but not limited to, the following:
All Shifts
- Maintaining a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment which fosters growth rehabilitation and facilitates the development of self help skills among individuals
- Inspect the facility for safety and maintenance
- Log medication and document when residents take their medication
- Answer telephones and monitor residents’ telephone calls
- Complete intake/ discharge paperwork
- Transport clients to and from medical/clinical appointments in PCH vehicles.
- Recognizing when an individual is in a crisis and be able to utilize the appropriate psychiatric and medical back up services.
- Implementation of individuals’ goals and providing appropriate support.
- Providing Life Skills Support / Crisis Management to identified clients
- Assist in maintenance of the residence (i.e., Laundry, Loading/Unloading dishwasher,
- Taking out trash/trash cans, walking perimeter of property to identify any safety concerns,reporting any maintenance concerns, light cleaning of common areas, etc).
- Work directly with residents (i.e., using open ended questions, clarify problem, ask if TXTeam is aware, etc.);
- Inspect common areas and bedrooms for cleanliness on a daily basis
- Monitor residents in common areas and during scheduled outings
- Ability to coordinate/complete daily ongoing tasks and manage “Eyes On” and “One to One” Clients.
- Be alert to residents and surroundings even during one-on-one conversations
- Monitoring the entrance/access to the facility via the main entrance, regularly and consistently monitor the security cameras. In the event any suspicious activities or abnormalities are observed while on duty, an immediate report is made to supervisor on shift for immediate follow-up by staff as assigned.
- Coordinate/facilitate and supervise in-house group activities special activities and outings as needed.
- Be timely and present at all scheduled meetings, shift change, staff meetings and trainings.
- Develop knowledge of the current community resources and referrals, which may entail attendance at off-site meetings and trainings.
- Communicate pertinent information to resident’s treatment team (Shift Notes, E-Mail)
- Be familiar and comply with PCH policies and procedures. Report any deviations to Supervisor.
- Function as Shift lead, as designated;
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Crisis Intervention, Multi-Cultural Awareness, CPR and FIRST AID.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational skills. Must be computer literate (Word, Outlook, etc). Must be a self-starter and team player with the ability to work with other staff members, clients, vendors and the public.
- Must have valid CA driver’s license, good driving record for a minimum of 5 years. Able to transport clients/staff if required using a transportation agency.
Education/Training:
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working with mental health population
