POSITION: DME Biller/Collector/Insurance Authorization (Durable Medical Equipment)
ON-SITE POSITION ONLY (Los Angeles)
Industry: DME Company specializing in Orthopedic and Prosthetic
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in DME medical billing, collections and insurance authorizations (worker’s compensation) as well as have at least two years medical billing experience, be assertive, but friendly on the phone, possess the ability to handle a fast pace work environment, and be willing and able to multitask. The ideal candidate is also required to work effectively with peers and with management and also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other staff.
Responsibilities:
- Collect for worker's compensation, maintain knowledge on worker's compensation, process liens as needed, process incoming payments, post payments, notify Manager of escalated cases, and handle any collection related calls.
- Request authorization from insurance companies.
- Perform posting charges and completion of claims to payers in a timely fashion.
- Submit billing data to insurance providers and billing service.
- Work claims and claim denials to ensure maximum reimbursement for services provided.
- Implement, maintain and report on programs initiated by the practice.
- Review aging reports for past due invoices and status of accounts, posting payments, collecting from: private pay, Workers Compensation, PPO, and Medicare.
- Send out statements of past due accounts, following up on status of payments, receiving and reviewing denials, and researching denials to expedite payment.
- Obtain authorization from insurance (worker’s compensation).
- Investigate and appeal claims that were denied.
- Review patient bills and correct any missing or inaccurate information.
Key Qualifications:
knowledgeable in:
- HCFA's
- Workers' Comp
- Coding and collections
- HCPCS and ICD10 codes
- Medicare billing policies and procedures, PPO and worker's compensation.
- Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), eligibilities and authorizations
- Insurance and claims submission
- Microsoft Office skills, primarily knowledge of Excel (sorting, formatting, using simple formulas)
- Basic medical terminology
