Treatment Center Based Substance Abuse Counselor
Now hiring for an experienced Substance Abuse Specialist for a drug and alcohol treatment center. Our treatment center is based in downtown Mesa, Arizona and has been licensed since 2012 and accredited with the Joint Commission since mid-2017. With the numerous amount of treatment centers a client can choose to attend, we strive to standout from the rest and provide superior quality care. In doing so, it's imperative we have the right personnel on our clinical team. We are a small agency so the right candidate would be dealing with many levels of staff on a consistent basis. Responsibilities and Duties
Responsibilities & Duties include but are not limited to:
- Reports to Clinical Supervisor & Clinical Director
- Provides individual substance abuse and psycho-educational group counseling
- Completes intake assessments, treatment plans and progress notes
- Collaborates with other treatment personnel regarding client care
- Refers clients to community resources, accordingly
- Modifies treatment activities and approaches in relation to client status
- Encourages the development of social skills and strategies that may be used as coping mechanisms and to assist in overcoming substance dependency
- Assess clients for risk of self-harm
- Discusses post-therapy plans with clients
- Communicates and collaborates with supervisors and peers
- Provides other services as necessary
- Participates in clinical and/or administrative supervision with a Behavioral Health Professional
- Treatment center hours are 9-5 Mon-Fri- some modifications to schedule may be necessary on occasion based on client needs
- Qualifications and Skills
Qualifications:
- LASAC or other associate licensure required
- Must be trained to perform substance abuse counseling and be familiar with 12-step and other recovery modalities. If candidate is in recovery from substance addiction, 2 years of sobriety is preferred.
- Must be willing to exercise and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients
- Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 16 – 20 per week
