As a Victim Assistance Specialist, you will provide supportive services to crime victims, assisting them at hearings and coordinating with attorneys, victim advocates, and staff members to provide valuable assistance throughout the criminal justice process. You will be responsible for legal clerical work, notification of court-related events, and direct victim assistance for the Victim Services Division.

We Require

Three (3) years of experience performing clerical or customer service duties preferably in a legal setting

High School Diploma or GED

A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

Must currently possess and have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s License at time of hire
NOTE: The Maricopa County Attorney's Office requires a thorough background check of all successful candidates and is authorized to test prospective employees for the presence of illegally accessed drugs. Drug testing is conducted once an offer has been extended and prior to placement.
Job Contributions

Works directly with crime victims

Act as a liaison between the victim, the assigned advocate and prosecutor

Provide notifications and short notice of hearings, confer actions with victims

Provide resources and referrals to crime victims

Attend hearings with crime victims

Coordinate meetings

Provide crisis intervention

Collect, assemble, organize, and maintain restitution information and case files
-
Coordinate with attorneys, victim advocates, and staff members to directly assist victims and/or obtain restitution information from victims and prepare required paperwork for court

Review and determine the sufficiency of restitution information
-
Monitor the progress of restitution requests
-
Maintain a database of contacts and phone numbers for business and insurance victims

Redact and scan restitution documents into the data system as required

Develops and maintains positive and productive working relationships with co-workers and crime victims using principles of good customer service

Work in the presence of or with a trained canine that comforts victims

Provide outreach and community assistance

High volume, fast-paced office environment

Ability to move up to 20 pounds floor to waist, pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds at a distance of up to 100 feet

Requires travel to and from job-related locations during the course of a scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of County or private vehicles used on County business
