Civil Project Manager – Houston or College Station, Texas
The Project Manager will oversee the development of construction drawings and specifications on various civil engineering site development projects throughout the greater Houston area, Central Texas, and nationwide on federal projects. H2B currently provides civil engineering for industrial, commercial, medical, corporate and education clients as part of design-build teams or as conventional design-bid-build projects. The Project Manager will work as (and lead) a team of engineers, EITs and drafters to provide common sense designs for our clients. The Project Manager is responsible for client interfacing, setting project priorities, preparing project schedules and budgets, and coordinating with other disciplines to provide sound engineering designs to our clients. Travel is likely to be 1–2-day duration trips once or twice a quarter, as needed.
The candidate must be a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas and have 5-10 years of relevant design and project management experience. NCEES registration as a Model Law engineer is a plus as H2B provides engineering across the country for the Department of Veteran Affairs and other clients. Relocation allowance and flex time opportunity may be considered with pay commensurate to experience. Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- High Level of understanding of public and private development codes and ordinances for multiple jurisdictions. Must have experience with the City of Houston and Harris County permitting process. Experience with permitting processes of surrounding cities and counties is a plus.
- Responsible for assigned projects, including meeting delivery schedules and budgets. Must be able to lead a team of drafters, designers, EITs and Engineers.
- Ability to lead meetings successfully with clients, governmental agencies, and team members independently without assistance.
- Responsible for multiple projects including the engineering design of water, sanitary and storm sewer, paving and drainage facilities.
- Demonstrates understanding of Construction Administration and the Construction Phase process.
- Counsel, monitor and mentor the professional development of EITs, designers, and drafters.
- Coordinate with other Project Managers to schedule and delegate work to the civil department.
- Develop and write design proposals for new projects.
Education, certification and experience
- Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering
- Registered Texas P.E. with 5-10 years of land development experience.
