About the Role:
The Data Custodian is responsible for managing and safeguarding the company's data assets, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data management, an understanding of regulatory requirements specific to the cannabis industry, and experience with data governance best practices.
What You'll Do:
- Data Management:
- Oversee the storage, organization, and maintenance of company data.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and availability across all systems.
- Support the Data Steward through working with the business to understand data needs, creating national consistency across the data domain.
- Ensure the Data Catalog is kept up to date, communicating changes with impacted departments.
- Data Governance:
- Establish and maintain data governance frameworks and standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define data ownership and accountability.
- Conduct regular audits, including exception reporting, to ensure adherence to data governance policies.
- Create and maintain SOPs around data creation and management.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with IT, legal, compliance, and business teams to align data management practices with organizational goals.
- Provide training and support to employees on data management policies and procedures.
- Participate in cross-functional projects to enhance data capabilities and support business objectives.
- Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to cannabis data.
- Reporting and Analytics:
- Support data analytics initiatives by ensuring data quality and accessibility.
- Identify opportunities for data-driven improvements and efficiencies.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in data management, data governance, or a related field.
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality management, and data stewardship practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of database management systems, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on data accuracy and quality.
