My Client, a boutique property management company located in Manhattan, NY is seeking an assistant property manager to join their team. The company mainly focuses on the management of condos, coops and luxury rental buildings across 4 boroughs.
This is an on-site, in office role and is located in Manhattan. The ideal candidate should have a background in the property industry and be looking to take the next step in their career into an assistant property manager role, with a view of becoming a property manager with their own portfolio. It is essential that you demonstrate strong potential leadership and critical thinking skills and are able to work from your own initiative with an out of the box approach in order to be successful with this firm.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in the property industry as either a leasing agent, property admin, clerical support, accounting support or similar role.
- Basic knowledge of NYC property laws including violations.
- Previous experience working with a management company who manage condos and coops would be an advantage.
- Strong desire to learn, eager to problem solve, critically think and lead.
- Posses strong potential leadership and decision making skills
- Previous experience sitting in on board meetings or notarising board meetings would be an advantage.
- Able to work from your own initiative to get tasks done in a timely manner.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Technically focused, able to learn and use new systems easily.
Duties & Role:
- Supporting the property managers who take care of large portfolios of varying sized buildings, you will assist with the day to day support of helping the buildings run smoothly and assist the property managers where needed.
- Take care of writing and sending out of leases and other documents as needed.
- Request financial reports and performance reports from various departments
- Work on resolving violations i.e booking remedial work in, making calls and obtaining quotes.
- Organise and book scheduled maintenance for buildings for example fire sprinkler & extinguisher inspections.
- Keep accurate records of work completed on each building
- Ensure invoices and payment requests are sent to the accounts department.
- Prepare for, attend and notarise board meetings.
- Assist with obtaining quotes from contractors.
- Assist with aspects of project management.
