Job Summary:
This is a PRN position working 2 days a week. Responsible for providing professional nursing care for office patients following established standards and practices. Assists physicians and staff in coordinating patient care. Functions as primary liaison between patients, staff and physicians. Focus on the care of patients receiving IV therapy, or medications and fluids via injection.
Essential Functions:
1. Complies with all HIPAA and OSHA regulations and policies.
2. Ensure patients receive the correct IV for the treatment ordered and evaluate the patients response to the IV therapy.
3. Provides general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
4. Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness. Prepares list of medical supplies needed. Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination and testing of patients.
5. Observes, records, and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians. Dispenses medication as directed. Schedules surgery if necessary. Educates patient/family about diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition and maintenance of health and wellness.
6. Ensures appointment preferences are given to patients in emergency situations. Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination. Screens patients for appropriate information. Takes and records vital signs and weight. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
7. Assists physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
8. Maintains/reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Posts tests and examination results.
9. Reviews patient history as required by physician guidelines.
10. Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
11. Maintains patient confidentiality.
12. Performs duties of triage nurse as required.

1. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, regulations and practices to give and evaluate patient care.
2. Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality.
3. Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records.
4. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care.
5. Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions.
6. Skill in preparing/maintaining records, writing reports and responding to correspondence.

11. Ability to appropriately interact with patients and patients’ family members.

Education and Work Experience:
1. Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program. BSN preferred.
2. Minimum of 2-year professional nursing experience, medical office experience preferred.
4. ACLS Certification or Eligible for certification
5. Minimum of 1 year cardiac stress test experience
Certificates and Licenses Required:
1. State of Ohio Nursing Licensure
Environmental/Working Conditions:
Combination of office and exam settings. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a medical office environment. Hepatitis B vaccination and TB test required.
Physical/Mental Demands:
Varied activities including sitting, standing, walking, stooping, reaching, bending and lifting. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and to lift 100 pounds. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment including phone, writing instruments, computer, fax, and medical equipment including stethoscope, EKG machine, ear washing equipment, speculums, scales, and blood pressure cuff. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
