The Director of Legal Operations will report to the CEO and handle strategic and administrative matters relating to the operations of the firm, including matters relating to financial management and budgeting, knowledge management, lateral acquisition and integration, billing and collections, and information technology.
Responsibilities
- Assist with development, revision, implementation, and oversight of Firm’s policies and procedures.
- Review financial reports, cash flow projections, accounts payable, and work-in-process reports to update the CEO regarding the Firm’s short-term outlook.
- Partner with the CEO and other Directors to ensure projects/processes are moving forward, deadlines are being met, and the leadership team is apprised of status on projects or initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison with the Firm’s Accounting and Finance, Human Resources, and Information Technology Departments and other Firm Management to ensure maximum collaboration and minimal overlap among the teams.
- Analyze and coordinate planning related to the Firm’s use of technology and processes, including existing and potential technology and process approaches. Interact with the Firm’s IT Department and other personnel in planning and implementing new technology applications and software changes.
- Assist CEO in preparing and managing strategic meetings, including preparing and presenting materials for committee meetings and meetings with management of other Departments.
- Manage coordination of delivery of relevant continuing legal education and training program for attorneys of the Firm.
- Coordinate the delivery of service and maintain contracts for of all vendors and service providers to minimize overlap and reduce cost.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a project management, operations, or finance role, preferably within a law firm or a professional services organization.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Previous law firm experience is strongly preferred.
- Strategic mindset and problem-solving abilities, with a demonstrated ability to lead change and drive operational improvements.
- Experience managing financial, IT, HR, and other administrative or operational projects.
- Strong financial and analytical skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment but also operate independently.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Self-starter who can manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
