GENERAL SUMMARY: Experienced electrical designer in Navy ship alteration work primarily supporting habitability and other hull, mechanical and electrical (HM&E) projects.
LOCATION: Norfolk, VA
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct detailed shipchecks on Navy ships, primarily Aircraft Carriers, Surface Combatants, and Amphibious ships, to support SHIPALTs, Habitability Improvement and other overhauls.
- Utilize technical libraries and ship drawing indexes to identify, locate and interpret as-built drawings.
- Calculate electrical loads on circuits to determine capacity and nameplate data.
- Create precise ship installation drawings (SIDs) based on collected shipcheck data and existing documentation and adhering to NAVSEA standards and quality procedures.
- Check electrical drawings developed by others.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; further education or certification in relevant fields is a plus.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in U.S. Navy Electrical shipboard systems design.
- Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong ability to work independently and within a team to meet project deadlines.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Must qualify for or currently hold Secret Clearance.
- Ability to travel (up to 25%) as required.
