General Description:
The Masonry Instructor job is both a hands-on and classroom-based teaching position that serves adults who desire to learn more about and obtain the basic skills necessary to enter the general masonry field. The Masonry Instructor must be able to successfully connect with these participants and be able to teach them both the book knowledge and the hands-on skills for an entry-level mason. The requirements involve an individual with three or more years’ experience in the masonry field.
Daily Work Expectations:
The Masonry Instructor position is a part–time position, working with approximately 10 participants at a time for 3 hours a night, 2 nights a week, over a 26-week course (September to April). The schedule is either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday evening between the hours of 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Instructors are also allotted ½ hour each day for program planning either at the beginning or end of the training day.

- Lifting, carry, and placing prepared block
- Cutting, shaping, and dressing materials

- Masonry safety topics
- Masonry tools and equipment
- Mortar types and properties
- Installation techniques
Ability to plan:
- Classroom/materials budgets and needs
- Curriculum and lesson plans based on course offerings
- Masonry projects based on student competencies
- Masonry mechanic related projects and events
Professional Expectations:
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with all colleagues and students.

- Maintain records necessary for the performance of his/her duties.
