Position Overview:
As the Workforce Employment Specialist, you will assist our participants in achieving employment by identifying job opportunities and providing employment-seeking services. This includes developing relationships with local employers to identify employment opportunities and providing support to participants through employment coaching. A successful candidate must have a background in recruiting or providing employment services, the ability to coach and counsel participants, and personal alignment with our mission.
What you’ll do:
- Develop employer relationships to secure job opportunities for program participants.
- Collaborate with employers to identify hiring needs: job requirements, job placement, and follow-up.
- Empower participants to take ownership of their job search by setting and achieving job search goals.
- Demonstrate and assist participants with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for employment.
- Providing coaching and case management to participants to help them understand their career choices and the job search process.
- Assist participants with their resumes and interviewing skills.
- Provide the highest level of customer service to ensure that participants feel valued and model behaviors participants can emulate.
- Maintain contact with participants utilizing various methods not limited to in-person, phone, social media, mail, etc.
- Maintain daily electronic files/records, logs, and tracking to ensure current and organized activity for timely follow-up of direct participant services.
- Track job leads and communicate with employers regularly regarding participants’ candidacy.
- Provide intervention, when necessary and appropriate, to prevent a participant’s job loss or increase chances of promotion.
- Provide appropriate program reports promptly.
What you’ll need:
- Minimum of two years of proven work experience providing job readiness/placement, case management, workforce development, career pathway coaching, or a related field.
- Previous experience working with diverse populations, including varying races/ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Knowledge of the businesses and industries within the Cincinnati area.
- Knowledge of effective procedures in locating job sites and placing applicants in jobs.
- Knowledge of Private, local, state, and federal agencies involved in manpower development programs and job placement.
- Comfort in working in the business community.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as under pressure while maintaining high levels of quality.
- Ability to maintain and produce accurate, timely records.
- Ability to meet and communicate effectively with employers and participants.
- Ability to present to clients/employers on job-seeking skills and readiness of program participants.
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and Social Media platforms.
- Valid Driver’s License and background check required.
Working environment:
This full-time, in-person position is based at 3458 Reading Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45229. The role requires a blend of office-based work and community engagement, including local travel. Activities involve regular computer use, meetings, and presentations, as well as occasional physical tasks such as setting up events. Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
