We're looking for a team member with construction knowledge to help grow our Community Access Program!
Southeastern Minnesota Center for Independent Living, Inc. (SEMCIL) conducts home assessments for accessibility accommodations for individuals to live comfortably and safely in their homes. Examples include wheelchair ramps, widening doorways, grab bars and assistive devices, lifts, bathroom remodels and collecting construction bids for larger renovation projects. Our Community Access Program also installs wood and metal wheelchair ramps and grab bars.
This is a full time, benefit eligible position that requires traveling to individual’s homes in our 11-county coverage area. Mileage reimbursement is provided.
Essential Job Functions and Requirements:
- Working knowledge of construction methods.
- Obtain Minnesota Accessibility Specialist Certification within 6 months of hire and maintain certification while employed.
- Evaluate homes and businesses for accessibility.
- Complete timely and accurate assessment reports.
- Maintain accurate billing and invoicing records.
- Work with building contractors to gather estimates for assessed accessibility projects.
- Create and maintain working relationships with consumers, building contractors and county case managers.
- Assess for safety and maintain awareness of project hazards.
- Valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review or ability to commute as required.
- Lawfully authorized to work in the United States.
- Satisfactory Minnesota Department of Human Services background check.
