Chemical Hygiene Specialist shall be responsible for:
- Performs quarterly inventory of entire facility and monthly inventory in some locations for hazardous chemicals and updates records.
- Assign all chemicals with a barcode and maintain the inventory and tracking system.
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) library on SharePoint
- Develop Transportation Security Laboratory (TSL) spill response program and provide training as required.
- Procure and maintain spill kits where required and record monthly inspections.
- Inspect and maintain the authorized hazardous waste accumulation areas.
- Coordinate hazardous waste disposal with outside vendor
- Maintain accurate records of all hazardous wastes transferred for disposal.
- Assist in shipping and receiving of hazardous materials.
- Participate in the bulk transfer of hazardous materials
- Review all chemical purchases, per-screen all chemical purchases and receive and screen all incoming chemicals for hazardous traits and characteristics, deliver to ordering individual and update chemical inventory.
- Provides administrative assistance under the direction of the Environmental Health and Safety Team Lead as needed.
Successful completion of study from an accredited college or university leading to a Bachelor of Science core studies/major in any science, chemistry. Minimum five years’ specialized experience managing a Chemical Hygiene Program, preferable in a laboratory environment.
Possesses demonstrated experience in Chemical Hygiene Programs. Ability to perform inspections of a broad range of diverse facilities and operations. Able to identify outdated SDS's and acquire current SDS's and post them as required. Shall be current in OSHA and TSL safety regulations.
