Program Description:
The Bridge will provide 42 Safe Haven beds for street homeless single adults. The program
will include on-site services such as 24/7 front desk coverage, case management, medical care, meals, and laundry services.
Scope of Position:
Under the direction of the Program Director, the Operations Supervisor will supervise program operations, front desk/safety, and maintenance staff at a 42-bed Safe Haven in Harlem New York; maintain logbook and building; maintenance entries in Real Page; prioritize the safety of all tenants and staff of the program.
Essential Position Functions:
- Maintain daily operations of the Safe Haven and function as the primary manager of the facility in the absence of the program director and Operations Coordinator; consulting with the Area Director or Assistant VP as necessary; directly supervise Program Aides, and front desk staff, who share the same shifts and Program Aides of other shifts when their direct supervisor is not present; fill in for Program aides as needed.
- Assist with on-site Crisis intervention including overdose prevention, behavioral issues, and weather and/or utilities-related crises. Run fire drills for your shift; be available for 24-hour crisis intervention advice and assistance; maintain status as a Licensed Fire Coordinator (F-80) and ensure that all other staff obtain either an F-80 or F-02 (Fire Guard) Certificate of Fitness. Assure a full complement of Fire Safety staff, First Aid/CPR, and Food Service staff to ensure coverage across shifts.
- Manage CARES reporting to the NYC Department of Homeless Services. You must document all engagement via AWARDS as well; review the visitor logbook and safety logbook for quality assurance; reinforce program policies and procedures; and perform all required administrative duties.
- Preparing the program for inspections.
- Assisting Case Managers as needed.
- Filing documents. Communicating and Coordinating with the maintenance/facilities team; ordering program supplies; attending staff meetings, supervision, and training as required; while performing functions.
- The Operations Supervisor must be able to interact with the client population in a polite and professional manner while maintaining personal boundaries.
- Must be able to and being able to accept our resident’s behavior and maintain composure during crisis situations and/or engage individuals who may present behavioral issues; report any incidents or disruptive behavior to the residence’s supervisors and/or staff.
- Any other duties as may be assigned.
Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree, plus 3 years of work experience
Qualifications and Experience: Experience working with the street homeless population; experience supervising staff; strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills. Spanish speaking is a plus.
Hours: Part -time, 14 hours per week, & 2 days per week
