Accountability objective: To build and establish relationships with customers and vendors to identify their service needs while presenting competitive solutions.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Great customers, vendors, and carriers at the receiving window in a positive and helpful manner
- Review or create paperwork accurately and in a timely manner and direct customers to the proper location for loading or unloading of freight
- Coordinate customer cargo bookings to/from Seattle and Alaska and between Alaskan ports
- Ensure that bookings are executed according to the customer’s instructions
- Identify, track, and execute sales opportunities including creating and sending estimates
- Resolve various customer service issues as necessary and direct to manager when needed
- Effectively communicate with Terminal operations to ensure freight ships and delivers per customer’s instructions
- Flexible to change and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Solve problems as they arise; lost or damaged product, disgruntled customers/vendors, late deliveries, etc.
- Create freight claim packets as needed
- Compile weekly vessel package including manifest, stability, and freight reconciliation
- Support vessel operations in Alaska via logistical support from Seattle
- Create and review billing information in a timely, complete, and accurate manner. Follow up and collect payment for cash and one-time shipments
- Respond to phone calls and emails in a timely and efficient manner
- Dependability and the ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and quality standards
Skills/Experience:
- Excellent customer service- written, interpersonal, and telephone communication skills
- Computer fluency in MS Office programs and familiarity with data entry software and tools
- Time management skills with strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task
- Team player with a positive and proactive attitude
- HS diploma or GED required, or 2 years of industry experience preferred
- Proficiency in basic computations and spelling
