The RT/Pulmonary Function Technologist (PFT) is responsible for providing and coordinating comprehensive care to patients in need of routine and specialized pulmonary function tests. The PFT is responsible for performing calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment in accordance with established guidelines. The PFT should be passionate with strong empathy skills as our patients are our top priority. Help our patients breathe easier!
Essential Functions

- Perform pulmonary function tests, including spirometry, flow-volume loops, lung volumes and capacity, six-minute walk test, pulse oximetry, cardiopulmonary exercise test, and other tests as specified
- Monitoring and evaluation of the patient's physical and emotional condition during pulmonary function testing, as well as the assessment of the quality of the patient's performance.
- Promotes safety by recognizing and applying proper safety measures to safeguard from harm
- Take appropriate actions in response to patient distress or medical emergency
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot equipment according to manufacturer guidelines
- Use, protect, and disclose patient’s protected health information (PHI) in accordance with Health Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
- Follow all United Medical policies, uphold professional standards, and perform work responsibilities in a manner that is respectful to others
- Perform other assigned duties as required
Required:
- Graduate from an approved program in Respiratory Therapy or Pulmonary Function or other healthcare related program
- Basic Life Support certification
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer proficiency
- A passion for healthcare
- Desire to work independently and multi-task
Preferred:
- Licensed Respiratory Therapist, RRT, Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician, Certified Pulmonary Function Technician, or Registered Pulmonary Function Technician
- ACLS
- Knowledge of electronic medical databases
