The Power System Engineer will work with a multifunctional team on the design of power distribution and conversion products. They will select components and define architectures for AC and DC power distribution products. This position will provide crucial support to the design, development, and manufacturing of systems for use in commercial and military and aerospace products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Design and lead the development of AC and DC power products including power distribution units along with AC-DC and DC-DC converters up to 3kW to meet regulatory requirements.
- Experience with components and systems comprised of filters, converters, regulators, switches, MOVs, etc.
- Develop and document compliance and test matrices based on customer specifications.
- Model, design, simulate, assemble and test prototypes, and perform data analysis to ensure compliance with product specifications.
- Lead hands on, technical troubleshooting efforts to resolve performance issues.
- Create or assist in documenting engineering drawings, Bill of Materials, and accompanying drawing packages for new / existing product, procedures, or tooling / fixtures.
- Assist Sales, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and Quality departments in resolving product issues, complaints, waiver requests, and in answering customer inquiries.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, with a minimum 4 years of experience OR MS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, with a minimum 2 years of experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- U.S. Citizenship is required. Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance (Secret Level) Desired
- Knowledge of AC/DC power and EMI filtering principles as well as military and regulatory standards.
- Ability to perform calculations, measurements, analysis, and reporting as needed to create custom RF solutions.
- Experience in the use of various test instruments, with emphasis on AC/DC power testing including use of waveform generators, power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc. Ability to automate test equipment is a plus.
- Experience using simulation tools such as LTspice or PowerCAD.
- Proficiency in office software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as required.
- Familiarity with CAD systems such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
- Experience with modern manufacturing methods and electrical/ electronic assembly.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position will be on-site in our Frederick, MD facility.
