Position Summary:
Consistently provide outstanding customer service. Effectively prepare and display product to ensure maximum sales and product availability for the Bakery department. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.
Essential Job Functions:
- Demonstrate teamwork and promote trust and respect among associates.
- Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
- Demonstrate sincerity, patience and respect in all customer interactions, escort customers to products they’re looking for and thank them for their business.
- Effectively communicate with customers and respond to questions and requests in a timely manner.
- Gain/maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions/make suggestions about products/recipes.
- Properly operate equipment (e.g., glazer, cleaning utensils, oven racks, flats, shrink wrap, label machine, bread slicer, knives, decorating tube, and calculator, shopping cart and cleaning utensils) according to company .
- Answer department telephone calls and provide proper assistance.
- Monitor the product cooling process and finish bakery products for sales floor (e.g., glaze/drizzle icing)
- Slice and bag bread/buns.
- Transfer product to trays/containers and apply the appropriate closure (e.g. twist ties, shrink wrap, etc.) and accurately label all products
- Clean and stock shelves, bins and cases; check pricing, signage for accuracy.
- Rotate and face products properly; pull stale items and document product name, quantity and retail.
- Comply with, and reinforce all food safety and safety regulations/guidelines/procedures and programs; identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
- Physical demands include, but are not limited to, frequently walking on uneven ground, reaching, standing, turning, bending, twisting and gripping hand and arm repetitive motion, fine finger motion, lifting/carrying objects 20 to 40 lbs., pushing/pulling objects 100 to 150 lbs. Occasionally climb ladders, stoop, crawl and lift/carry over 40 lbs.
