POSITION SUMMARY:
Support the Manager of Facilities for a large manufacturing operation. Assist or lead in planning, coordinating and tracking all maintenance work as assigned. This includes but is not limited to performing or leading the team in troubleshooting and repairs to buildings and equipment, preventive maintenance and modifications to equipment and structures. Training other technicians to perform maintenance and repairs on buildings and equipment at times may be required. This is a “safety sensitive” position; therefore, the employee must adhere to all OSHA and any Standard Operating Procedures that have been put into place.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Able to perform and train others in performing building and equipment troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs including but not limited to all the functions of Maintenance Technician I
- Coordinates communication between the Facilities team and radio, email or verbal requests for assistance.
- Willing to use and maintains Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) for work order tracking.
- Creates and manages work orders.
- Able to plan and estimate work required to complete work orders or projects.
- Research feasibility for in house capabilities
- Providing time/ labor and cost requirements
- Work with Facilities Manager to coordinate any vendor required estimates or assistance.
- Assesses urgency of work and recommends priority to Facilities Manager, coordinating work with originating department or other planners.
- Oversees work order completion; participating in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair functions.
- Oversee and train technician as required.
- Works with Facilities Manager to create, implement and monitor new and existing PM schedules as required
- Creates daily metrics to report Work Order and PM status and statistics
- Creates and maintains equipment folders on all capital assets
- Recommends equipment rebuilds based on repair history and Life Cycle data
- Maintains Dept. Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) in house inventories
- Oversee all special event Facilities coordination
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to read, interpret and train verbally or through written instruction using process instructions, engineering change orders, blueprints or schematics, in english.
- Ability to welding and or fabricate required.
- Must know mechanical and electrical principles and machine functionality.
- Must know proper use of hand, power, and testing tools.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Construction experience a plus
- Must have working knowledge of OSHA safety and hazardous waste disposal.
- Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to use Excel for tracking, graphing and report generation
- Must be able to use Word and Outlook for written correspondence
- Honest, ethical, and handling things and people in a professional manner
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years maintenance technician experience.
- Experience with safety in a facilities environment required.
- Must possess valid driver’s license.
- Supervisory experience.
- Detail oriented with organizational skills.
- Ability to work individually or in team settings.
SAFETY:
- This position will conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, and all state and federal regulations (such as 6S, Lean Manufacturing, local, state and federal requirements).
- Collaborate with the Facilities Manager, Safety Manager and or HR Director on significant safety issues.
- Ensures all workplace safety standards and practices are upheld
- May participate as a member of the Safety Committee and 1st Responder team.
ENVIRONMENT:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is also exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
