Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer
The role supports greenfield and brownfield projects for the topsides of offshore oil & gas production facilities within the energy industry.
About this position:
- Hourly paid bi-weekly;
- Working In-office with possible trips to offshore platforms, client offices, or vendor shops;
- Reports to department manager and project management.
Responsibilities:
- Build equipment specifications, data sheets, load lists, studies, and reports;
- Perform sizing/load calculations and component selections;
- Effectively collaborate with others and develop design solutions;
- Check and P.E. stamp Area Classification Drawings and One-Line Diagrams;
- Develop wiring diagrams (CAD drawings are done by others);
- Leading interface with clients, suppliers, procurement and engineering/design disciplines;
- Redline drawings and build installation work packages for construction;
- Generate technical bid evaluations, make recommendations, and review vendor data;
- Support and lead Management of Change projects.
Qualifications:
- Eight or more years of related experience - offshore topsides brownfield preferred;
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (a related technical degree can be considered);
- Licensed Professional Engineer, Texas registration;
- Experience with SKM Power tools.
- Understanding of oil & gas production and utility system P&IDs;
- Proficiency with motor control centers, switchgear configurations, and offshore cabling.
- Knowledge of API, IEEE, NFPA NEC, USCG, and Class Society industry codes for electrical design;
- T-HUET (Tropical Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) certification a plus.
Related experience or exposure to:
- Topsides of offshore production/hydrocarbon facilities and electrical systems.
- Construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance;
- Gulf of Mexico fixed production platforms and floating facilities;
- Power generators (gas turbine and gas/diesel engine driven), transformers, and medium voltage.
- IEC Standards and Luxicon lighting software.
- Substations;
- U.S. Codes of Federal Regulations.
- VFDs and harmonics reviews.
- Scopes of work for I&E hookup contractors;
- Arc-flash, short circuit, motor starting, load flow/sharing calculations, and studies.
