About the Role: The Facilities Maintenance Technician will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and will play a vital role in the operations of the Downstream Departments. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide maintenance and repair of heavy machinery and different building mechanical systems. The role may involve specialization in trades like HVAC, plumbing, digital controls, security systems, or electrical work. The ideal candidate should be prepared to address all facility maintenance issues safely and be open to learning from and supporting colleagues in their respective fields of knowledge. Additionally, experience with motors, pneumatic tools, hydraulic systems, single phase and three phase electricity, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions is needed.
Your Responsibilities:
- Responsible for promoting and supporting the elements of ISO 9001 as they apply to the Facility Maintenance department
- Work includes maintenance, repair, replacement, installation, alteration, construction and design of facility components requiring the use of skills in communication, attention to detail, teamwork, and adherence to safety
- Perform maintenance duties in a team environment and should have the ability to work alone with little to no supervision
- Keep the buildings clean and in orderly condition by inspecting areas on a regular basis for needed repairs and maintenance
- Perform electrical jobs and other duties as required to maintain the manufacturing and office facilities
- Conducts scheduled preventative maintenance procedures on manufacturing and building equipment
- Inspect, maintain and repair cooling and heating systems
- Repair and install pipes, fittings, fixtures and other plumbing duties as required
- Maintain and repair pumps, valves and motors as required by management
- Effectively maintain all records of repairs and inspections, calibrations, tests, preventative maintenance, spare parts, and procedures
- Acquire and maintain the necessary State / Federal licenses / certificates as needed for certain job tasks Assist to construct and repair production facilities, including building, structure walls, floors, cabinets and fixtures
- Accomplish tasks by effectively connecting, routing, and assembling internal/external systems and components including but not limited to gearboxes, hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC, electrical, electronic, programmable logic controls and chemical
- Perform or arrange for general building and fixture repairs as well as general building maintenance
- Install facility and production equipment and non-production site installations
- Jointly work with external contractors on repair and maintenance of equipment
- Assist management to ensure that all relevant safety procedures, environmental procedures, regulatory and statutory requirements are met
- Must be "hands on" and willing to tackle any facility maintenance challenges Willingness to work off shift, weekends, and holidays
- Assist in other areas and perform other duties as assigned
What You Will Bring:
- Ability to perform Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed above
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 elements and understanding of their applicability to the department
- A minimum of three (3) years journey-level experience as a Facility maintenance technician
- Two years certified or trade school training in building trades (HVAC, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, Masonry and Painting), including a course in reading and drawing blueprints and diagrams preferred
- Highly skilled in the areas of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical (3 phase)
- Critical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Working knowledge of preventative maintenance programs
This is a hands-on position that requires you to be out in the plant working on industrial machinery and equipment.
Work Environment: Responsibilities are carried out in both indoor settings and in the plant, an unregulated environment that experiences extreme temperatures and high levels of noise, including but not limited to other uncontrollable factors.
